Province of Utrecht, the Dutch public transport authority, has awarded Keolis a new ten-year contract to operate and maintain its Utrecht bus network. The contract, worth a total of 750 million euros, includes the deployment of over 250 electric buses, the largest fleet of e-vehicles operated by Keolis in the Netherlands. It will start in December 2025.
A stronger offering for better customer service quality
Present in the Netherlands since 1999, Keolis is strengthening its presence in the country with the renewal of this contract in the Utrecht region, which has been entrusted to it since 2016. To enhance the attractiveness of the network, Keolis is proposing to extend timetables and offer more services to users. In line with its policy of inclusion, it is also setting concrete targets for the accessibility of public transport in Utrecht, and will be stepping up its collaboration with local associations. Over the next few years, Keolis will introduce the largest fleet of electric buses it operates in the Netherlands, comprising more than 250 vehicles. Electric buses will be gradually introduced on the network, while recharging infrastructure will be installed in the bus parking areas and the five depots that make up the network. With this new offer, the Group will help the province of Utrecht in its vision of sustainable and inclusive mobility. The network will also operate under the new name U-OV (Utrecht Openbaar Vervoer), replacing Syntus Utrecht.
