Acting together: Keolis mobilizes for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

11th December 2023

On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Keolis and its subsidiaries strengthened their commitment to this cause. As part of a collective effort, many entities set up awareness-raising, prevention and support initiatives aimed at creating a safer environment for women.

Keolis Métropole Orléans

Keolis Métropole Orléans is committed throughout the year to combating harassment and violence against women. To mark the day, it ran a special awareness-raising campaign during which the first five employees trained as ambassadors went out to meet passengers. Next step for the ambassadors: an exploratory walk around the city to analyse urban dysfunctions and question women’s access to public space.

Keolis Lille Métropole

Keolis Lille Métropole mobilised its ilévia network for a whole week in the fight against sexist harassment. The subsidiary used a variety of channels to express its commitment and raise public awareness of this issue: information stands, a communications campaign, actions with the Respect Brigade and the Passer’elles association, employee participation in the march against violence, etc.

Keolis Gironde

Keolis Gironde has reaffirmed its commitment to combating sexist behaviour and sexual harassment on public transport, by once again sharing its prevention campaign. “On the lines, the answer is clear: no to harassment!”.

Keolis Besançon Mobilités

Keolis Besançon Mobilités, in partnership with the ESBF and the GBDH (flagship handball clubs in Besançon), has launched an awarenessraising video entitled “Together, committed against harassment”. As well as raising passenger awareness, the video uses the 5D method to show how to react when witnessing violence or harassment.

In addition to this video, Keolis Besançon Mobilités is putting in place long-term initiatives to guarantee safety on public transport. For example, the “Ask for Angela” system, which allows a person in danger to discreetly ask for help at a ticket office, or its “stop on demand” service, which, after 9pm, allows passengers to get off between two stops to get closer to their final destination.
