The Grands Prix de la Région Capitale pay tribute to the Olympic success of transport in the Île-de-France region!
The 2024 edition of the Grands Prix de la Région Capitale, organised by VRT, highlighted the excellence of transport in Île-de-France, particularly through the projects carried out in connection with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This annual event has become a must for rewarding efforts and innovations aimed at improving sustainable mobility in the region.
This year, the ‘Project Management’ prize was awarded to Île-de-France Mobilités. This prize rewards the colossal amount of work carried out during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to ensure an efficient and effective transport service. Managing passenger flows was a real challenge, with millions of spectators coming to watch the various competitions. Thanks to exemplary coordination and strengthened infrastructure, the region's transport systems not only met needs, but also enabled innovative solutions for more sustainable mobility to be put forward.
Another flagship project rewarded this year is Saint-Denis Pleyel station, a major modernisation project led by SNCF Gares & Connexions. The ‘Modernisation’ award, presented by Youenn Dupuis, highlights the importance of this new infrastructure, which will play a key role in the future of transport in the Île-de-France region, well beyond the Olympic Games.
These awards not only illustrate the efforts being made to improve public transport during a major event, but also lay the foundations for a future in which sustainable mobility will be a central concern. The Grands Prix de la Région Capitale thus continue to honour initiatives that are transforming the transport landscape in Île-de-France, while celebrating the legacy left by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
