Keolis Danmark A/S has just signed an agreement to acquire the urban and suburban transport activities of the Danish company Anchersen A/S, strengthening its position in the Copenhagen and Zealand regions. Through this acquisition, Keolis also reaffirms its commitment to Movia, the public transport authority covering the Copenhagen and Zealand regions, further supporting it in the transition to sustainable and innovative mobility.

Founded in 1997, the Danish company Anchersen A/S is a key player in sustainable transport in Denmark, primarily in the Copenhagen and Zealand regions.

Under the terms of the Anchersen A/S transaction, Keolis will take over the operation of these contracts, integrate the company’s 600 employees, and expand its fleet with 130 vehicles, of which more than 50 % run on electricity. The transaction also includes the acquisition of a 30,000 m² bus depot located in Hvidovre, on the outskirts of Copenhagen, giving Keolis a strategic position for operating and maintaining its fleet in the region. Keolis thus becomes a major player in urban and interurban transport in Denmar.

Objective: supporting the energy transition

Keolis will continue to assist Danish municipalities in their efforts to transition bus fleets to sustainable energy by providing operational expertise in alternative fuels to diesel (electricity, natural gas, biogas, and hydrogen). By offering this wide range of energy solutions tailored to the maturity and ecosystem of each community, Keolis advises and supports public transport authorities in identifying the most appropriate solution in terms of energy, vehicles, and infrastructure.

Over 25 years in Denmark

Established in Denmark since 2007, where it already employs over 1,800 people and operates 400 buses, Keolis has developed a strong operational base in the country. Its main activities are in urban and interurban transport through the operation of bus networks in Copenhagen, Tylstrup, Hinnerup, Odense and Slagelse, as well as tram systems in Odense and Aarhus.

The completion of the transaction is subject to the usual conditions precedent and regulatory approvals required in Denmark.

« This acquisition enhances our presence in Denmark, where Keolis has been operating public transport services for 25 years. It aligns with our strategy of selective and profitable international growth. We are delighted to contribute to the development of one of Europe’s most advanced transport networks in terms of the green transition.»
Marie-Ange Debon, Chairwoman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Keolis
