Keolis has been selected by public transport authority Sydtrafik to operate two entirely electric public transport networks in southern Denmark. These contracts, with a combined value of approximately €146 million, mark the Group's strategic return to the South Jutland region and consolidate its position as a leading sustainable mobility operator in Northern Europe.
Two structuring contracts for regional development
Public transport authority Sydtrafik has awarded Keolis two operating contracts based on 100% electric bus fleets in the South Jutland region.
The first contract (Sydtrafik-21) will commence in June 2026 for an initial period of 10 years, with two optional additional years. It will comprise 15 electric buses and represent approximately 33,300 annual commercial hours, with estimated revenue of €59 million.
The second contract (Sydtrafik-22), with service launch scheduled for June 2027, will span 10 years (with options of 2 + 2 years). It will also cover 15 electric buses and approximately 48,800 annual commercial hours, with estimated total revenue of €87 million.
Both networks will operate entirely on electricity, contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions and improvements in air quality. This new milestone reflects Keolis's committed policy in Denmark to support authorities in their public transport decarbonisation strategy.
In total, Keolis will operate 30 electric buses and contribute to enhancing the environmental performance of the networks served.

"These two contracts demonstrate the confidence of Danish authorities in our expertise in delivering sustainable and high-performing mobility. They represent an important milestone marking our return to the South Jutland region. We are committed to supporting the region in its transition to low-emission public transport, by operating reliable services tailored to the needs of residents and our client Sydtrafik."

A strategic return to the South Jutland region
These two contracts mark Keolis's return to the South Jutland region for the first time since 2013, strengthening its presence in Denmark. They reflect renewed confidence from organising authorities in the Group's ability to deploy reliable, high-performing and environmentally responsible mobility solutions.
Present in Denmark for more than 20 years, Keolis currently operates more than 400 buses across the country and employs 1,800 staff. The Group also operates two tram networks: Aarhus (in operation since 2017) and Odense (opened in 2022). These new contracts reinforce their footprints in the region and their commitment to sustainable mobility.
